While most Kitsune distrust outsiders and prefer to stay in their loamy, fern-shrouded forests, Uzumaki is often the first to greet travelers and offer them warding runes and medicines in exchange for stories of the world beyond.

Ninja Division's Strategy[]

Uzumaki is a DEX-based Hero with a range of three. This gives him a shorter range than traditional DEX users such as the Glimmerdusk Ranger, but still gives him a longer range than most melee characters. Because of this, Uzumaki occupies a mid-range capacity, darting in and out of the fight, and making use of his Quick Strike ability when he can to get an extra attack in.

His Storm of Daggers and Charisma unique actions work together in a powerful way. Uzumaki can use Charisma to make any enemies within two squares be compelled two spaces in order to line them up for a perfect sweep area of effect attack using Storm of Daggers. Of course, each of these actions is perfectly useful on its own, especially since they both only cost one action point, but combined they can wreak havoc on the Consul.

Finally, Uzumaki has Ancestor’s Blessing, a green potion capable of healing all wounds on a Hero. The catch is that you don’t know which Hero will be healed! All Heroes roll their Will and the one with the highest result heals all wounds. This creates a fun, random mechanic that players can still influence. If you have a heavily wounded member of your party, you may find it beneficial to throw some Will loot on them in order to influence this roll. Or you could simply save this potion for when the Hero with the best Will is wounded. Uzumaki is a charismatic, happy-go-lucky sort who throws caution to the wind, so we felt that players who enjoy this sort of character would have fun rolling the dice in the hopes of a big pay-off!

Gameplay[]

Additional Strategy: []

Naru-err...Uzamaki is useful for quickly clearing out a tile of enemies. The first action is to use Charisma to round up the minions, then take them out with at least one use of Storm of Daggers. Charisma's AOE, and the positioning of the gangs around the Spawn Point can make Arcade much easier for him; he can either take out most minions in one go, or he can keep the elites away from them far enough to be taken out quickly, especially on the very first hero phase.

No matter what, don't forget to activate Quick Strike at every opportunity. Each enemy defeated gives him a chance to reduce the number of one-wound monsters, or damage another enemy that could pose a problem. This means that a successful Storm(or any AOE action he can acquire) can give him multiple attacks, with a chance of clearing out the entire tile in one action, save for the spawn point.

Finally, never underestimate Charisma being Dangerous. A proper use can bring another hero in where they can help clear out the mob, or can position the entire party out of a Super's attack range.

Equipment/Buff: []

Uzamaki only needs ways to increase his ARM and DEX.

Arena, FK and most expansions have at least one treasure that make Quick Strike much more effective. Executioner's Axe from the Forgotten King can increase the number of high wound enemies Storm of Daggers can take out without having to spend further AP, even if he cannot make melee attacks. Tanchyo, Kunoichi Candy and Kaelly's treasures not only increase his DEX but can let his initial attacks reach enemies from afar, with Candy's Whirling Doom being the best of the three. While Arena's cards can help him out, you'll want to find the Flameburst; it's Flameburst Bolt can hit multiple enemies, further increasing the number of wounds he can deal with his ability.

Limitations:[]

Uzamaki is more luck than strategy in Super Dungeon when it comes to his role. Quick Strike has three things to consider:

  1. He must make two rolls: an attack roll against the target, and a roll with a 1:6 chance of triggering it.
  2. All free attacks are regular missiles at range 3, and do not gain any bonuses from the initial attack(i.e. an initial attack that has +1b DEX).
  3. It does not trigger when an enemy is destroyed from a fire effect.

Do not let this keep you from using him however, as it is always active, and the attacks it generates are free.

The proceeding advice works up until the boss, during which you may need to change tactics. Onyo and Beatrix are excellent matchups because every damage dealt to the party results in more creeps, which result in more free attacks. Pauper Prince, Goro and Drakk are also good, but keep in mind that in Explore Prince can only summon his rats twice while the Consul will most likely switch tactics themselves when using Drakk and Goro. For everyone else, he must rely on model manipulation and his basic attack to stand a chance.

Lastly, ignore the info about Ancestor's Blessing. Although it can remove all wounds, it only affects the hero with the highest roll. This may be a small problem if everyone has average WILL, but a powerful spellcaster will win the roll most of the time, whether they need it or not. . Even with Will boosting equipment, a hero may be better off trying to roll hearts instead.

Party: []

Uzamaki fills the role of a minion cleaner when you need to face a tough boss before the turn limit is up. He fits well with any hero, but may need some equipment, potions and buffs to keep up with his friends. He definitely works best with AOE supporters to keep enemies out, and those with Predator to allow even more free attacks.
