A model with Sidestep may immediately move one square when it makes a successful defense roll.

Note: Sidestep is a move action so models may not use Sidestep if they are suffering from Knockdown as it prevents movement until the status effect is removed. As the skill indicates one square, this can allow the model to move into difficult terrain which normally require 2 movement, but they will still suffer appropriate negative effects.

Immobile does not technically prevent Sidestep unless it is the model's activation as it is currently worded to prevent the model from moving during their activation. As such, a model with Immobile may not Sidestep their own Dangerous attack, but a model with Immobile may Sidestep a Dangerous attack from an ally.

Sidestep activates when a successful defense roll is made. This means that the model may still move when successfully defending against actions that are not attacks, such as support actions that require a defense roll to hit.

Sidestep may be triggered multiple times in a turn and does not need to be used to move away from the attacker and can in fact be used to move closer to objectives.

Consider triggering Sidestep with Aura/Dangerous Control actions that require a to hit roll since a success will let you move the model as expected and a failure will allow you to trigger Sidestep.
