The first thing to note about the Deeproot Wolf Rider isn't actually on the card–it is a large base model. This is important as it limits the Rider's mobility, and it does not have an AoE to take advantage of. However, this does not stop the Wolf Rider from being a brutal adversary.
The Wolf Rider has 8 movement points and the ability Surefoot, which allows it to ignore difficult terrain and its ill effects. This goes a long way in its favor. In addition, the offensive action Wolf Spirit not only beefs up the Wolf Rider's, already beefy, STR by +1 red die, but also give it the ability Pounce, granting it 5 extra squares of movement for the action. The Wolf Rider may be big, but it can really get around.
Adding to the threat range is the fact that the Wolf Rider has a Missile Attack with a range of four squares, on a solid DEX of 3 blue. Like any good predator the Wolf Rider can wound its prey using the offensive action Harass and inflict the status effects, Slow and Knockdown. Perfect for letting the rest of its pack (the other Heroes) close in on the wounded monster and finish it off.
The Wolf Rider rounds out its abilities with an average ARM of 3 blue, but 6 Hearts, and the powerful Glimmerberry Juice emergency potion. This potent potion forces an enemy model to reroll all of the dice on an offensive roll that was just made. This is one of the few "interrupt" style potions in Super Dungeon Explore and can be used to undo a potentially fatal hit.
