Death comes to us all, but within the shrouded mists and fog of Glaurdoom Moor death is all too common. Death Spectres are perversions of the spirits of death who guide the deceased to their final resting place. Driven by a need to cause death beyond that prescribed by nature, Death Spectres are vile reapers that thrive on suffering.

First thing of note is his terrible number of movement points at 1. Fortunately, he has the Spectre Support action which allows him to Teleport 10 squares at the cost of 1 action point. This is enhanced by his Ghost ability which allows him to ignore walls and structures for purposes of line of sight and movement.

Death Spectre uses his ARM for defense and has a very respectable 2 red. This is all the better thanks to his Immune: Status Effects ability. (Exclamation point icon). Five hearts and 4 skull points come in at the mini-boss standard.

You'll note that there is no Melee icon next to Death Spectre's STR that is because all of his attacks are magical, using his formidable 2 stars and 1 green WILL. He can make three basic Magic Attacks with a range of 2 or he can use some of his excellent unique actions.

Lifesap is brutal. At a single action point this wave attack hits everything around him and he heals wounds for every wound it inflicts. Be careful though, it is a dangerous so will hurt friend and foe alike.

Soul Scythe is the kill switch. Instead of inflicting a single wound it instead inflicts one wound for every star Death Spectre wins the offense roll by. Ouch!

Additional Info[]

The Arcade version of Lifesap is Wave: 3 and only hits heroes. For other games, remember that the victim's defence rolls can determine how many wounds Soul Scythe can inflict.

Vs. SUPER- Death's weakness is it's average ARM, so focus on heroes that can reduce it, like Twilight Knight and Wandering Minstrel(both of which have Feint). For LS, split up the party and take out as many enemies as possible so that it won't be able to heal much. For SS, it is as simple as finding heroes or equipment that give you stars(like the Exemplar and Cerberus) or boost your defense rolls(Springtime Druid and Unicorn). Even having one Princess coin and Sturdy Cloak can put a 3B ARM at even footing against it's 1G WILL.

Vs. Arcade- The proceeding strategies for it's ARM and SS are more important in Arcade. Make defeating it your top priority: each round it is still in the dungeon could mean a lost Princess Coin, with the chance to undo the damage done every other turn.

Consul- Death Spectre comes from Von Drakk Manor, where it can do the most damage. While both spawning points give it additional boosts, the skeletons from Shallow Grave can be used to bring it back to full strength, then revived by a Necromancer in the same phase.

There are also various bosses that can make sure he can stay in top form, as well as three spawning points. Grabby House, Salt Pillar and Fungal Growth all have ways to bring back 'lost souls' but are very big gambles and in most cases, and not worth adding to the dungeon with it.

No Matter what you pick, ALWAYS only have half of it within any aura, especially if it is caused by a spawning point....
